Defining the Header Area

After creating the floating fields as shown in the figure on the previous page, you then need to determine the scope of the header area. The header must contain all of the data that varies in length between each page.  In this example the top of the header begins on line one and ends on the line of text containing “THANK YOU FOR YOUR BUSINESS”.

To define the header, click theheader/footer icon on the toolbar to bring up the “MapForm Header/Properties” dialog. In this dialog, we will enter text to be searched for to define the bottom of the header. We will search for the text “THANK” (which is between columns 30 and 34). This is similar to the search method used to define offset fields.

The map form header footer properties dialog. Here you determine the header and footer size. Enter search text to define the bottom of the header. Set the offset, start column, and stop column.

After defining the header, it appears as a pink shaded area in MapForm.
